    IP Policy

Who owns what when work is made during a residency, programme, collaboration or event at The Hub Bengaluru.

    In short

You own what you make. THB does not take equity or IP as a condition of a residency. We only ask for permission to tell the story, and we ask before we tell it.

    1. You own your work

Anything you conceive, build, write, design, record or found during a THB residency, programme, stay or event is yours. Joining THB does not transfer ownership, assign intellectual property, create a licence to your product, or entitle us to equity, revenue or a founder’s stake.

    2. What THB owns

THB owns its brand, names, marks, website, curriculum design, frameworks, session materials, internal systems and the photographs and films it commissions. These are licensed to you for personal use during your participation and may not be resold, rebranded or republished as your own.

    3. Work made together

If THB and you deliberately build something together — a joint venture, a co-authored publication, a commissioned piece of work — ownership, credit and revenue are agreed in a separate written agreement before the work starts. In the absence of such an agreement, each side keeps what it brought and owns what it independently made.

    4. Confidentiality

    • Unreleased work, metrics, code and plans shared inside a cohort stay inside that cohort.
    • Do not record, screenshot or repost another person’s unreleased work without their written agreement.
    • Where a partner or resident needs a formal NDA, we will sign one.

    5. Storytelling and permissions

We document what happens here: photographs, films, build logs, case studies and public writing. We ask for permission before we publish anything that identifies you or your work, and you can decline or withdraw that permission later. Where you agree, you grant THB a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use those materials to describe the programme. Group photographs of public events may be published; tell a host if you do not want to appear and we will remove you.

    6. Using each other’s names

You may accurately say that you were a resident, participant, host or partner at The Hub Bengaluru, and say when. You may not use THB marks in a product name, imply endorsement or investment, or present THB as a co-founder or backer without written permission. The same restraint applies to us with your marks.

    7. Third-party and open-source material

You are responsible for having the rights to what you bring in and build with, including licences for fonts, images, code, models and datasets. Work released by THB as open source carries its stated licence, and that licence governs.

    8. Disputes and contact

If you believe something here infringes your rights, or you want a written agreement before starting a collaboration, write to growth@thehubbengaluru.com with the details and we will respond within 14 days.

    Talk to a person

Anything unclear, or anything you want changed about your own information, goes to growth@thehubbengaluru.com. A human replies.
